This oddly-shaped antenna connects to the AirPort wireless network card inside your Mac mini and enhances the WiFi and Bluetooth reception.
If you're having a weak signal even if your Mac mini is close to the router, your antennas might be malfunctioning.
It's called a plate, but don't use it for dinner. It's probably not good for you! (or your Mac mini...)
This antenna does not enable capabilities, it only enhances them. If you're not getting any wireless capabilities at all, you might want to check out the wireless card itself first.
